Three SCOR teams make finals at CESA Challenge

    November 24, 2008

Greenville, TN - It was a great weekend in Greenville, SC as three SCOR teams traveled the CESA Fall Challenge and all three made it to the finals of their bracket. Krossfire 96 and Heat 98 brought home titles while Heat 97 dominated their championship game but ended up as finalist.
The Heat 98 made it five straight wins and they have now finished as champions or finalists in eight straight tournaments. Playing in the U11 Academy Black bracket, the boys cruised to a 4-1 win over CESA 98B and a convincing 6-0 win over the the NMSC White. On Sunday they added a 4-2 win over the Ninjas and then went on to take the finals with a 4-2 win over the LNSC Strikers. Heat 98 dominated the game but had a hard time putting the ball in the net.
Krossfire 96 continued to play very stingy defense as they have adjusted to playing three in the back. Playing up in the U14 Classic White Bracket, Krossfire gave up only one goal for the weekend while scoring 11. Saturday brought twin 4-0 wins over the host CESA 94 Classic and the 94 Speed. Sunday brought better competition. Needing a win or tie to make the finals, Krossfire fought to a 1-0 win over the DSC 95 Lady Green. The finals proved to be the best game of the weekend. Facing a well coached and physical USA Hurricanes team, Krossfire scored twice and then held on to win 2-1.
While the Heat 97 made the finals in the U12 Academy Blue Bracket, it proved to be the most frustrating finals of the weekend. The boys seemed misbracketed as they cruised to consecutive 10-0 and 11-0 wins on Saturday. Sunday morning was their most competitive game as they faced an aggresive and confident Toros Storm team. The boys created lots of opportunities but ended up in a 3-3 tie, qualifying them for the finals. Facing a well-coached SCSA Silver team in the finals, Heat 98 dominated every phase of the game, taking multiple shots on goal while giving up very few shots. They couldn't find the net, however, and after two overtimes they went to PKs and lost 4-2.

SCOR Teams fare well in KFC Adidas Fall Cup

    October 13, 2008

Knoxville, TN - SCOR took nine teams to this past weekends KFC Adidas Fall Cup and while they only came away with one championship, several teams had breakthrough weekends.
The Heat 98 won their fourth tournament in a row and has now finished first or second in seven straight tournaments. The boys demolished two KFC teams 10-1 and 4-1 to set up an interesting day on Sunday. They faced the Stone Mountain Storm Red in their final round robin game and won 6-3. They then had to play the same Stone Mountain team again in the finals, always a tough assignment. Heat 98 prevailed with a 4-2 win in a hard fought game.
Krossfire 96 had a great weekend after a tough first game. The girls were playing up in the U14 bracket and dropped the opening game to Atlanta's Cobb Strikers. They started slowly again in the afternoon falling behind 2-0 and 3-1 to the FC Alliance Gold but came back to win 4-3. Their best game was on Sunday morning against eventual tournament champion KFC 95 Orange. The girls played a great match and picked up the win 1-0. They ended in a three-way tie for first in their bracket, but failed to advance to the finals based on points.
The U18 Blaze posted two wins on the weekend, 5-2 over the ETSF Falcons and 3-1 over the Blount United Starz. But they failed to make the finals also, losing a tie breaker.

Hendersonville, TN - SCOR sent three teams to the Tennessee United Adidas Cup this past weekend and came home with two championships. Heat 98 won its third tournament in a row while Krossfire 96 got back on track with great tournament.
Krossfire 96 had a great defensive weekend allowing only one goal in four games. They posted two wins on Saturday, 3-0 over FC Academy Intensity and 4-0 over Madison Futbol Xtreme. That got them into the semifinals. They gave up their only goal in the semis against the WHSC Premier 96, but stormed back to win convincingly 3-1. The finals were a rout from the beginning.
Facing the ERSA Express Red, Krossfire stayed on their attacking half for most of the game winning 3-0 for the championship.
Heat 98 just continues to roll on. They have now won or finished second in six straight tournaments. They posted wins over the CSA Lobos Blue, 6-3, and PFC 98, 4-2 on day one. In the semis on Sunday, the boys handled the HSC 98 Shockers 4-2 for a trip to the finalks. Once again they faced Collierville's CSA Lobos in what was to be an emotional match. Ignoring the taunts of the Lobos, Heat 98 played solid soccer and shutour the Lobos 4-0.
