Tryout Summary
The Soccer Club of Oak Ridge is dedicated to ensuring that every player has access to the appropriate level of competition. We understand that each player's development occurs at a unique pace, and we are genuinely committed to providing each individual with the highest level of competition that aligns with their growth cycle.
Equally important to SCOR is offering every child a fair chance to achieve their personal objectives. We believe that players who exhibit the necessary skills, passion, and personal accountability to compete at higher levels should be given the opportunity to prepare for that challenge.
Furthermore, we recognize that players who may not yet possess advanced skills but exhibit a love for the game and a sense of responsibility also deserve encouragement to help them reach their aspirations. For these reasons, we view annual tryouts as a fair and equitable method to provide all players with the opportunity and platform to develop and compete based on their abilities, enthusiasm, and commitment.
FAQS
Do players have to attend all nights of tryouts?
All players must attend tryouts to be considered for a place on the team, even returning players. It is recommended that players attend 2 of the 3 night
All potential players must register for tryouts even if injury will prevent them from attending.
If you are unable to attend tryouts, please contact Elise Morris at info@scorsoccer.org
But please still register for tryouts.
Is my child guaranteed a spot on a team?
After tryouts players are placed on teams based on their ability.
Depending on the number of players in an age group or grouping will depend on the number of teams we can create.
If we don't have a spot for a player we create an individual soccer plan to keep the player connected to the club and developing.
What happens after tryouts
Within days of the last tryout being completed for the specific age group/gender, an email will be sent out to all players who attended.
Parents and athletes will then have one week from the date of receiving the acceptance email to accept their spot.
How do I know what age group my child plays in?
Starting in 2026/27 all clubs and organizations will recognize the new "school calendar year" for team placement. Some players based on developmental needs could at times, be recommendedgroups to play up. This is not a common practice with all age group. It is case by case.
Who will coach my child?
Coaches are assigned to teams by the Club/Program. Not parent selected.
Can my child take the winter off from soccer and resume in the spring?
This depends case by case, and no coach is able to guarantee a returning rostered spot. Also, taking a winter break does not elminate any club/player fees that are still due.
